Round 13 - Mrs Cricket's Rag

What a match! An absolute heart stopper. Packer, were he still with us, could not have scripted this match any better. I'm sure this was the type of game he was after when signing those 60 players back on Friday 13th 1977. A Black Friday no less. Fitting, seeing how this was our 13th match. Creepy..

Anyhoo, back to Wed. All was going great guns from the start. Bolly and Super Ring-in Slem picking the balls off with ease. Opening gaps in the field with keen blades of willow, erasing any memory of last week's debacle. Bolly's choice of sock wear, the long walking sock, somehow proved an omen considering their only wickets were run-outs. Their partenership of 42 solidifying our innings and falling just 4 runs short of Slap Honours. Back Slaps Boys!

Also with a vast improvement from last week (20. in fact) Slappers F.Baggins and CRICKEY! seem to be settling in nicely together. CRICKEY! finding the front foot drive working nicely for him. Scoring a large % of his runs through this region. Post match, he confided to me that he had no idea where his foot was landing and that he was still suffering paralysis. We wish him well.

Debutant Slap Wayne was with me for 4 quick deliveries before quietly tearing his Hammy. After displaying signs of a promising partnership with the Skip, Ring-in Wayne was forced to leave field , a shattered Slapper. Slem was then asked back on as a Sub Ring-in Ring-in. Leaving the 'Blair Pitch Project' behind, we managed to assemble a tidy 30 runs.

gLOVE and K6 were presented with the rare treat of a handy total to build upon. And they did. Both Slaps back to their old form whilst still having to deal with some tight bowling. A truckload of net shots (only 1 six scored) and few wickets saw their total reach the half ton. A galiant effort from two classy stroke players. In the end we had posted 142. A tough target. Normally....
